The Start of SBR SPORTS INC and TRISWIM as we know it today...

The origins of TRISWIM are closely tied to Karen Allard, a competitive triathlete and USAT-certified coach in 2003.

Karen became heavily involved in swimming around the early 2000s. She was spending extensive amounts of time in pools and open water, and she experienced firsthand a problem familiar to competitive swimmers: repeated exposure to chlorine and other pool chemicals was leaving her hair and skin dry, damaged, and difficult to manage.

She looked for an effective post-swim hair-and-body product but found the choices unsatisfactory. At one end were inexpensive drugstore products; at the other were expensive salon products that claimed to address chlorine but, in her assessment, were essentially clarifying shampoos rather than products specifically designed around swimmers' needs.

That distinction became the foundation of TRISWIM:

Don't simply wash after swimming—specifically address what swimming does to the hair and skin.

From swimmer's problem to product-development project

Karen did not originally come from the cosmetics or manufacturing industry. Her background included commercial real estate, and she was also a mother and triathlete.

Rather than simply put a conventional shampoo under a new label, she decided to work with a chemist to develop a purpose-built formula. Over a year developing and testing prototypes, working with laboratories and chemists and testing the products under the demanding conditions of her own athletic training.

The intended formulation went beyond ordinary cleansing. The products were intended to replenish and condition hair and skin using ingredients such as vitamins, botanicals, proteins, and keratin.

The early TRISWIM concept incorporated ingredients intended to address:

  • chlorine
  • saltwater
  • bromine
  • hard-water minerals
  • chemical odor
  • dryness associated with repeated exposure to pool and environmental elements

In 2004, TRISWIM was born.

Fast forward to 2026 and TRISWIM is sold worldwide across 6 continents and is the Global Leader in Chlorine-Out Hair and Skin Care.
